New at Bodyclear: The IDS Pico Premium Laser
At Bodyclear, we are constantly investing in the best care for your skin. In addition to our trusted nano laser, we are expanding our product line with the absolute best in laser technology: the IDS Pico Premium Laser.
This breaks the ink down into finer particles, allowing your body to eliminate them more quickly and often requiring fewer sessions, with less heat applied to the surrounding skin. At Bodyclear in Aarschot, we use a Pico laser; at our other centers, we use the Quanta Q-Plus Evo C.
Pico laser: How does it work?
A pico laser operates using ultrashort pulses in the order of picoseconds—one trillionth of a second. Whereas older Q-switched (nano) lasers primarily break down the ink using heat, the pico laser primarily uses a mechanical shock wave that pulverizes the ink particles into finer particles.
The finer the particles, the easier it is for your lymphatic system to remove them, and the faster your tattoo will fade. The result: generally fewer sessions and a lower risk of skin damage than with older techniques.
The difference: from Nano to Pico
Both a nanolaser and a picolaser break down ink and pigment using a powerful energy pulse that pulverizes the particles or causes them to “explode.” The main difference lies in the speed of this pulse.
Our trusted nano laser operates in nanoseconds. Because its pulse is slightly longer, it generates a bit more heat in the skin during treatment. Our new pico laser, on the other hand, operates in picoseconds and is therefore up to 1,000 times faster.
Because of these ultra-short flashes of light, heat generation is minimal and the shock wave is even more powerful. As a result, the ink and pigment deposits aren’t simply broken into pieces, but are literally pulverized into minuscule “dust particles.” Your body can then eliminate these tiny particles much more quickly and easily through natural processes.
The benefits for you
Faster results
Because the pigment is pulverized into a much finer powder, fewer treatments are needed on average to remove your tattoo or pigmented lesion.
Lower risk
Because significantly less heat is generated in the skin, the skin heals faster and the risk of irritation or scarring is minimal.
For difficult colors
Thanks to different light wavelengths, we can also treat stubborn ink colors (such as green, blue, and red) and deep pigments extremely effectively.
Skin rejuvenation and texture improvement
With our special attachment, we stimulate the production of new collagen in the deeper layers of the skin without damaging the top layer. Ideal for acne scars, fine lines, and enlarged pores.
What do we use the Pico Laser for?
- Tattoo removal (complete removal or fading for a cover-up)
- Pigment spots, sunspots, and age spots
- Melasma / pregnancy mask
- Skin rejuvenation, pore refinement, and acne scars
Does the Pico laser work on every skin color and skin type?
The Pico laser targets a wide range of ink colors, including the difficult-to-remove green and blue shades, thanks to its various wavelengths. Complete removal of brightly colored or very deeply embedded ink varies on a case-by-case basis; some colors can never be completely removed. Your skin type also plays a role. During the free consultation, we’ll assess your skin and your tattoo, and give you an honest assessment of what’s achievable.
How much does tattoo removal with the pico laser cost?
The price depends mainly on the size of your tattoo and starts at €110 per session for the Premium (Pico) treatment. Because factors such as ink color, depth, and skin type vary from person to person, we use a price range rather than a fixed amount. View all estimated prices by category on our pricing page. We’ll determine the exact price during the initial consultation.
How many sessions will I need with the Pico laser?
On average, 6 to 10 sessions are needed, with at least 8 weeks between each session to allow your skin to heal and the ink to be broken down. The exact number depends on the size of your tattoo, the colors used, how deep the ink is, the age of the tattoo, and your skin type. An older, faded tattoo usually requires fewer sessions than a fresh, brightly colored one. You’re in control: after each session, you decide if and when to continue.

A Pico laser is a tattoo removal laser that operates using picosecond pulses—a thousand times shorter than those of older nanosecond lasers. As a result, it breaks down ink more finely, with less heat and often fewer sessions.
A Pico laser emits pulses that are about a thousand times shorter than those of a nano (Q-switched) laser. This pulverizes the ink more finely and mechanically, with less heat, which generally means fewer sessions, a lower risk of scarring, and better color results.

It’s slightly uncomfortable but tolerable. Most people compare it to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Thanks to skin cooling and the short treatment time, the discomfort is minimal.
Yes. Thanks to its multiple wavelengths, the Pico laser generally handles difficult colors like green and blue better than older lasers. Complete removal of brightly colored ink varies on a case-by-case basis.
